The 280 km long Nanda Devi Raj Jat Pilgrimage

Goddess Nanda Devi start their pilgrimage begin from twin villages Nauti and Kanswa villages situated at Chamoli district in Uttrakhand state of India with four horn sheep.  After the convoy reached the last halting point of Homkund, the sheep is freed with decorated ornaments, food and clothing’s and the other offerings are discarded.

Devotees will complete their 21 days pilgrimage by crossing 19 major halting points at the height of 21,000 ft from the sea level in Garhwal Himalayas.

According to Executive President Rakesh Kunwar and General Secretary Bhuvan Nautiyal, the pilgrimage would start on 18th August 2014, Monday at sharp 7.00 A.M. It would end at Trishuli Mountain in Bhado, considered as the abode of God Shiva.

Government has deployed the squad of 600 personnel as the disaster response force (SDRF) to ensure that the convoy that passes through easily over the 280-km long difficult terrain.

Chief minister Harish Rawat  said that for the convoy Nanda Devi Raj Jat pilgrimage, several teams of senior medical officers has been deputed to take care of over one lakh devotees who would participate in the holy pilgrimage.

Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar mentioned that 150 member special task force (STF) team has been sent to eight highly risk-prone points including Bedini bugyal, Pater Nchani, to ensure that devotees do not face any problem while trekking. The holy pilgrimage will start from August 18 and to be concluded on September 6.

Schedule for the Pilgrimage with halting over 19 difficult terrains:

August 18- The sacred journey starts from Nauti village and reaches Idabadhani (You can reach Nauti village by routes i.e. one is through Haridwar and second from Kathgodam.
August 19- Idabadhani to Kansuwa
August 20- Kansuwa to Sem
August 21- Sem to Koti
August 22- August 23- Koti to Bhagwati
August 24- Bhagwati to Kulsari
August 25- Kulsari to Chepdnue
August 26- Chepdnue to Nandkesari
August 27- Nandkesari to Faldiagaon
August 28- Faldiagaon to Mundoli
August 29- Mundoli to Wan
