Chanakya Nitishastra - Chapter Four

1. Person’s lifespan, occupation, wealth, education and the death time are determined while one is in the womb.

2. Children, acquaintances, and relatives try to remain at a distance from a devotee of the Lord: yet those who follow him bring value to their families through their devotion.

3. Fishes, tortoises, and birds bring up their children or younger once by means of sight, attention and touch similarly saintly men protect their acquaintances.

4. When your body is healthy, under control and death is far, try to save your soul because when death is near than you cannot do anything.

5. Learning is like a cow of desire that give output in all the seasons. It feeds you, like a mother feeds you on the journey of your life. Therefore, learning is a secret treasure.

6. One son accompanied with good qualities is far better than a hundred of them lacking those qualities. He can be compared to the moon that can take away the darkness whereas numerous stars cannot.

7. A son who died at the time of birth is better than a foolish son with a long life. The son who died at the time of the birth gives sadness for a time being while the foolish son is like a blazing fire that burn his parents in grief for the lifetime.

8. Dwelling in a small village without adequate living facilities, serving a person born in a low family, unhealthy food, a brooding wife, a stupid son, and a widowed daughter burns the body of the person without fire.

9. A cow that neither gives milk nor conceives is worthless; similarly a son who is neither learned nor a pure devotee of the Lord is insignificant.

10. When a man is filled with the sorrows of life, three things that are children, a wife, and the company of the lord's devotees can give him relief.

11. Kings speak once, knowledgeable people do not repeat what they said once, and the daughter is given in marriage once. All these happen once.

12. One should practice ascetic practices alone, study in the company of two, and singing in the company of three. A journey should be undertaken in the company of four, agriculture in the company of five, and war should be fought by accompanying many people.

13. She is a true wife who is pure, clean, expert, truthful, & pleasing to the husband.

14. The house without a child is void, all the directions are void for the person who has no relatives, fool’s heart is also void, but for a poor person all the above is void.

15. If scriptural lessons are not being practiced than they are like a poison; a food is poison for the person who suffers from indigestion; a social gathering is a poison for a poor person; and an aged man whose wife is younger to him is poison for him.

16. That man who is without mercy and a religion should be discarded. A teacher without spiritual knowledge should be rejected. The wife with an unpleasant face should be given up, and so should relatives who are without affection.... Read More

German professor's denied the admission to Indian boy for Intership

A professor in Germany has denied the admission to the Indian boy by stating the reason that She could not allow the boy from the country where there is a lot of rape problem. She had many female students in her university, so she could not support him.

These remarks ignited an uproar in India after she refused an internship to a male Indian student, citing the reason of  "rape culture" in India. The letter went viral on social media with students condemning the act. Later, the professor apologised.

Now in my point of view, though professor did totally wrong by labelling male community as rapist and presented her myopic view. It can lead to the adverse reactions for other host nations where Indian students went for pursuing their career opportunities.

Although the professor's decision is unjustified but she reserve the right to deny any student.
Whole incident give the message for India that the rape problem must be addressed as soon as possible.
Just uproaring on the issue will not solve the problem. We have to accept the problem and try to change our mindset to change the mindset of others for India.

In India many men are psychopath, they rape and doesn't have iota of respect or love for women.
The reason lies is in the traditional patriarchal culture. Where Mothers generally question girls why she was late but rarely ask her son that why he was late. There is need to give moral values to the their son.

The grandparents are still not happy with a granddaughter, they still need a son for carrying the name of their family forward. Here also there is a need to change the mindset that boys and girls both are equal. Girls can also bring laurels for the family and we have seen many instances, no need to mention about it... On that day at 8.30 PM, they boarded an off-duty bus, with six men on board, five adults and a juvenile. Firstly, the men beat the girl's male friend, and each male raped the woman in turn. The girl raised the alarm, so furiously rapist was assaulting her viciously with an iron instrument.

According to one of rapist accused in gang-rape case, that the girl was responsible for the rape as she was boarding the bus late in the night. After that if she was raped she should not raise the alarm. If she quietly accepted the rape, they would not assaulted her.

He further said that girls are more responsible for the rape than the boys. Girls are there only for housework and housekeeping, not roaming in discos and bars at night doing wrong things, wearing wrong clothes.

Nearly 20% of girls are good. His lawyer added that if girls in his family remain out late in the night or engaged in pre-marital activities and disgraced herself, he... Read More

Addiction is the repeating the same thing or the activity again & again to the level that one becomes habitual. The addiction can be of anything such as drugs, alcohol, T.V., mobile games, using social networking sites & apps, music, eating sweets or any other types of addiction.

1) Self Talk

Talk to yourself that whether this addiction can help to give an answer to your depression, anxiety, pain & stress. Preferably you can sit & write down the following points:

•  Poor Life state
•  Deterioration of health
•  The embarrassment caused by addiction
•  Bad effect on your relationship

2) Use substitute for the addiction

You can use a substitute for the addicted thing or activity; you want to divert your mind. Remember the alternative you are planning to use is not leading towards another addiction. For example, one boy was a chain smoker; he substituted smoking with the green tea. Whenever he felt the craving for smoking, he took green tea instead of cigarettes. Similarly, you can also think of some alternative to giving a breakaway to addiction.

3) Make changes in your daily routine

You have to make the changes in the daily routine. For example, start exercising and if possible take out some time to play with children or play any instrument. Make sure that your surrounding people are not disturbed by it... Read More

12.-13.
There is no article heavy for the strong and no place is distant for those who lay effort. There is no country remain foreign to a man who believe in true learning. No one can oppose who speaks pleasingly.

14. A family becomes famous by the birth of a virtuous son, as a whole forest becomes fragrant by the existence of a single tree with sweet-smelling blossoms in it.
