102 Dead bodies found floating in river Ganges

On the morning of Makar Sankranti on 14th january, 102 dead bodies have found in India's sacred Ganges river flowing between Kanpur and Unnao districts in the northern Uttar Pradesh state . Many dogs, crows and vultures hacked away at the body skeletons of men, women and children.

People are giving the reasons of age old customs that they would not bury young child or  unwed boy or girl as that they wanted the child or unwed boy or girl to be born again in their families. Many poor people float the dead bodies of their family members as they don't have money from creminations. Don't you think the stinking dead bodies that are stucked in the river polluting the river.

The other reasons of Ganga pollution are as follows:

Pollution by the affluent from the factory and industry.

It must be noted that millions of devotees bathe in the sacred river to cleanse their sins especially, during festival seasons. They left some materials like food, waste or leaves for religious purposes and inturn polluting the river.

Many Dams were built for electricity and other purposes. This slowed the flow of river and increase the salinity in the river again polluting the river.

Many drains and subsidiaries carrying industrial and urban waste of dangerous level while directly falling into the long stretch of the Ganga are choking the holy river and stalling all efforts to rejuvenate it.

Many  monks, Godmen, environmentalists such as Nigamananda,  Prof. G. D. Agrawal fasted for long time.
Modi Government has also started 'Namami Ganga' project, aimed at reviving the river, would remain a non-starter if the root causes of rising pollution are not addressed and innovative.

The world bank has agreed to loan India almost $1 Billion to clean up the Ganges - Not an insignificant amount by anyone's standards.

All their efforts could get into in vain when if the root causes of rising pollution are not addressed.
