What is Alcohol?

Alcohol is a colorless volatile flammable liquid which is the intoxicating constituent of Wine, Beer, Vodka and other Hard drinks. It is also constituent of aerated drinks and few medicines. Out of which Hard Drinks have severe effect on our health. However, if we consume aerated drinks and medicines in excess amount it can harm our health.

Why anyone consume Alcohol?

According to various studies, it has summarized some important reasons that are as follows:

• Peer Pressure
• Style to impress people around
• Parties
• Anxiety and stress at home/school/college/office.
• Parents are drinking alcohol (Many father feels proud when his son have his first peg with him and in many cases mothers are also drinking).

As your first alcoholic drink touched your lips, you might feel elated but as the consumption of drinks changes from occasional usage to monthly, weekly than to daily basis you get addicted to it.

Your central nervous system becomes increasingly impaired and it is associated with stomach upset, impaired vision, burning sensation in the heart, abnormal heart beating, slurry and harsh tone, use of abusive language, difficulty in walking, difficulty in driving, blackout, memory lapse, and difficulty in concentration.

If you are pregnant women then it can affect you as well as your baby.

Drinking too much can weaken your immune system, making your body much easier target for diseases. Chronic drinkers are more liable to contract diseases like pneumonia and tuberculosis than people who do not drink too much. Slowly and steadily every single organ of their body is affected. There is an increase in the risk of cancer of the esophagus, tongue, and liver.

Alcohol not only affects the body but also affect your relationships with your parents, spouse, children, and other family members.

You may observe that alcohol is one of the major impetuses of family disputes, violence, and divorce. Not only this it is also one of the major causes of accidents because one may be feeling drowsy and driving vehicle with impaired vision. In many cases people have to quit their jobs because of their abnormal behavior when they consume alcohol.

After going through the ill effects, you want to stop drinking. Here are the few tips that can help you in this regard:

• Positive self talking that drinking alcohol cannot solve your problems instead it can magnify your problems.
• Talk to your family members and ask for their help.
• If you drink to impress then you can easily impress with your dressing style, good behavior and your performance.
• Go to Rehabilitation center, doctors can help you to break the shackles of alcohol.
• Whenever your friend or anyone offers you a drink, you can firmly deny and then, you feel good.
• Try to indulge in some activity when you feel the urge of drinking.
• Whenever you have to attend cocktail parties then you can have fruit bear or fruit juice or any other alternative drink instead of alcohol. Best is if you can pour it in the glass use for drinking alcohol.
• Some new, non-habit forming medications can reduce the desire to drink or lessen the rewarding effect of drinking so it is easier to stop.
