CHOPTA – THE MOST UNEXPLORED HILL-STATION OF INDIA

Chopta is a hill station situated at Uttrakhand in India at the altitude of 2700 meters in Rudraprayag district. It is clean comparatively to other hill stations as it remain unexplored by many people. Many visitors to Chopta start their journey from Ukhimath. From there they trek down the distance of 3 km to Sari village. From the village,  they have to cover the distance of 30 km of dense forest and reach Chopta. After that, they start the trek for Tungnath temple. This temple is one of the five Panch Kedar temples.  It is the most ancient temple situated at the altitude of 3,680 m.
 
After that, they move towards Chandrashila peak that is also known as ‘Moon Rock’. There is legend behind this rock is Moon God had performed the severe penance on this rock. Trekking to place is rated from easy to moderate.
 
Trekkers can have the Panoramic view of Himalayan peaks from Chandrashila. There is also one small ancient Chandrashila temple. After that, they trek down to Rishikesh.
